What do the signs → and ↔ mean?

With →, the direction is part of the statement: "lab → handheld scanner" means the lab comes before the scanner; swapped around, the sentence would be false. With ↔, only the distance of one place matters, in either order. The fourth step of the tutorial shows exactly that — reachable any time through "How to play" on the home screen.

Do I ever have to guess?

No. Every case is generated so that each step can be forced. Where you get stuck, a deduction is missing — not the nerve to try something. A stage 1 hint names the log entry that carries right now.

The consistency check says there is a contradiction. Now what?

Undo some moves. The check compares against the solution, but it does not show where the mistake is — that would be solving the puzzle for you. This is why it comes with a one-minute cooldown.

Why is a difficulty locked?

There are two possible reasons, and the row tells you which one applies. A difficulty is earned by solving three cases of the previous one, at least one of them without a hint. Beyond that, "Hard", "Very hard" and "Extreme" belong to the full version; the row is then tappable and leads to the store. The daily puzzle is exempt from both — its difficulty follows the weekday and is never locked, not even on Sunday.

I bought the full version but do not see it.

Tap "Restore purchases" in the store and make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. The App Store will ask you to sign in — that question comes from Apple, not from the game.

My purchased hints are gone after switching devices.

Hint packs are consumables. They are credited on the device where they were bought and, under App Store rules, cannot be restored. The full version, by contrast, belongs to your Apple ID and always comes back. It contains no hints: those cost the same with the full version as without.

Why are the note sheet and custom crew names locked?

Both belong to the full version. The button, respectively the row, stays visible, carries a lock and leads to the store. No case becomes unsolvable because of it — the grid can do everything the solution needs. Notes and names you already entered stay saved and are there again after the purchase.

Is my progress backed up?

Your saved game lives on the device; there is no cloud sync and no account. It is included in the iOS backup. If the app is deleted, the progress is gone.

A case in progress was suddenly replaced by a new one.

Then it belonged to an older version of the puzzle content and could not be continued. The game starts a new case of the same difficulty and says so in one line. Solved cases, statistics and hint balance are unaffected.

Can I change the language?

The app follows your device language. You can change it in the iOS settings under "Anomaly", "Language" — a switch inside the app is deliberately not provided.
