Terms of use
Scope
These terms govern the use of the app "Anomaly" (the "app") by Stefan Hölting (the "provider"). Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition, in its current version.
Right of use
By downloading the app you receive a simple, non-transferable right to use it for your own purposes on the devices associated with your Apple ID. Modification, decompilation or redistribution is permitted only within the limits of the law.
Free play, full version, hint packs and lighting
The app can be played free of charge. Without any purchase you can play the difficulties "Introductory", "Easy" and "Medium" in free play — each once you have earned it — as well as the daily puzzle on every weekday, including the days it falls on "Hard", "Very hard" or "Extreme". Hints come from a daily allowance and from credit you earn by solving cases. Every case remains fully solvable without any purchase at all. Beyond that there are three kinds of in-app purchase:
- The full version unlocks the difficulties "Hard", "Very hard" and "Extreme" in free play, plus the note sheet in the game, your own crew names and the archive of daily puzzles, from which past days can be played one by one. Hints are not included — they cost the same with the full version as without. It is a one-time purchase and can be brought to another device on the same Apple ID at any time with "Restore purchases".
- Hint packs credit a fixed number of hints. They are consumables.
- Emergency Lighting is a second colour set for the interface. It changes nothing about how the game plays and is not part of the full version; nor the other way round. It is a one-time purchase and can be restored like the full version.
Earned progression is unaffected: even with the full version, a difficulty only opens once the cases of the previous one are solved.
There is no subscription. Nothing renews automatically and nothing is charged recurrently.
Where purchased hints live
Purchased hints that you have not used yet are stored only on the device where they were bought. The game keeps no user account and no cloud storage. It follows that they do not travel to a second device, and that they are lost if you delete the app or change devices. Under App Store rules, consumables cannot be restored.
If you play on several devices, or would rather not have to think about this, the full version is the better fit — it belongs to your Apple ID and can always be brought back.
Purchase, prices and refunds
Your contracting party for the purchase is Apple; the App Store terms apply. The prices shown in the app come from Apple unchanged. Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple, at https://reportaproblem.apple.com
Progress and backups
Your saved game lives on the device. Backing it up is your responsibility; use the iOS backup for that. If the app is deleted, the progress is gone.
Availability and changes to the app
The provider aims for faultless operation but does not owe uninterrupted availability. Puzzle content may be extended in later versions. A running case that belongs to an older content version cannot be continued in that situation; the game says so and starts a new case of the same difficulty. Solved cases, statistics and hint balance are unaffected.
Changes to these terms
The provider may adapt these terms where this is necessary for legal or technical reasons and does not unreasonably disadvantage you.
Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Should any provision be invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force.
This is a translation for convenience. The German version is the legally binding one.
